There are a large number of ferries leaving the Port of Piraeus every day to a wide range of Greek destinations. The main ferry operators are Minoan Lines, Anek Lines, Super Fast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries.

The following is a selection of ferry routes to the most popular holiday destinations.


Piraeus to Chania


The one daily route between Piraeus and Chania on Crete is operated by the Greek company Anek Lines. Sailing duration is about 8 hours, 30 minutes. Chania is situated in western Crete. The Port of Chania is connected by ferries to mainland Greece and several of the Aegean islands.

Piraeus to Rethymnon


Anek Lines operates one crossing a day to Rethymnon on Crete. The crossing time is approximately 9 hours, 30 minutes. Rethymnon boasts several historical sites including the Fortetza, which is one of the finest castles in Greece.

Piraeus to Heraklion


Minoan Lines Ferries provides sailings to Heraklion. The company has two daily crossings during the summer and just one sailing a day throughout the rest of the year. The journey time is approximately 7 hours. Heraklion is Crete's capital and the main port of entry to the island.

Piraeus to Antikythira


The sailing between Piraeus and Antikythira is operated by Anek Lines Ferries. This tiny island boasts an important wealth of archaeological sites. Schedules change frequently.

Piraeus to Gytheion


Anek Lines Ferries provides crossings between Piraeus and Gytheion (Githio).
Gytheion is one of the bigger towns on Mani, which is a picturesque island boasting a number of fascinating attractions including the remains of Roman buildings and ancient castles. Departure times and routes change regularly.

Piraeus to Kythira


The crossing to the Ionian Island of Kythira (Cythera) is also provided by Anek Lines Ferries. The island's impressive architecture is a mix of traditional Venetian and Aegean styles. One ferry a day sails on this route throughout the year, with more services added in the summer months.

Piraeus to Samos

Piraeus to Dodecanese Islands


Lane Lines operates routes to Kassos, Karpathos, Rhodes, and Chalki Island. There are several sailings a day in the summer with a journety time of more than 20 hours. Piraeus to Cyclades Islands


The Cyclades Islands of Ios, Kythnos, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Sifnos, Serifos, Syros, and Tinos can all be reached by ferry crossings operated by Hellenic Seaways. These are among the most popular destinations in the summer and there are at least three sailing a day to the central islands of Paros and Ios, with varying onward connections from there. Piraeus to Saronic Gulf Islands


Hellenic Seaways operates the routes to the Saronic Gulf islands of Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, and Methana. These islands are much closer to Piraeus and sailings are numerous each day.
